With the recent release of my new smoothie recipe book I thought hosting a fun challenge would be a fabulous way to support those using the recipes. You can still join us here. Each day participants get to enjoy two wholefood smoothies and a healthy dinner suggestion. Its the perfect way to kick off weight loss journey with natural fat-burning ingredients or give your body a metabolism boost.
To get you started here is my basic smoothie recipe. Adapt it as you see fit as this just the base recipe and is unflavoured. It can be pimped out with the addition of a healthy fat like avocado, and fibre goodness from berries, greens, and steamed veggies such as cauliflower or sweet potato.
A scoop of superfood powders, adaptogens, herbs and spices are also ways to boost the nutritional profile and work on specific goals through the foods you eat. For instance, things like cinnamon, extra dietary fibre, and green tea can increase your body's natural ability to burn fat. Don't be shy to experiment!
Basic Wholefood Smoothie Recipe
Ingredients
250ml plantbased (or dairy milk)
1/2 banana, frozen is best for a thicker smoothie
1/2 tsp Dutch cinnamon, ground (for the fat burn)
2 scoops Aussie Bodies "Nourish" protein (vegan)
1/2 cup crushed ice because I like my smoothies cold
Method
Add all the ingredients into a blender and then pour into 300ml mason jar or serving bowl. I love to add a drizzle of my favourite yoghurt or nut butter, banana wheels, spoonful of wholegrain granola plus crushed nuts and seeds. Delicious!
Nothing beats a smoothie for a quick and easy nourishing meal when you are rushed in the morning. Smoothies provide your body with all the nutrients you need to kick off your morning with natural energy and wholefood nutrition.
