Pineapple & Coconut Collagen Glow Pops

If you want naturally glowing skin, it comes from within. Your skin is one of the largest organs in your body and that outer glow is largely due to the beauty foods and nutrients you consume each and every day. So, if you want beautiful, radiant looking skin (at any age), eating a wholefood based diet and beauty foods rich in collagen is the secret sauce to defying your age.

What Are The Benefits Of Taking Collagen?

Collagen is an essential peptide found in the fragments of animal protein and is a vital nutrient needed to maintain and build healthy joints and cartilage. It is also what creates the youthfulness and elasticity of your skin. Collagen is found in the make up of everything from your gut lining, connective tissues, bones, muscles and blood.

This peptide is the building blocks of tissue and comprises three quarters of your skin and a third of the protein in your body. As you age, the existing collagen breaks down, and it gets harder for your body to produce on its own so supplementation becomes essential. When you approach your 30s, you'll want to start consuming collagen-rich, beauty foods and perhaps try a few wholefood based supplements to provide your body with an adequate collagen supply.

My Favourite Collagen Supplement

I am always testing out new wholefood and botanically based supplements that can support an otherwise healthy diet and lifestyle. So when I was asked my thoughts on REPAIR by Sydney naturopath, Pernille Jensen of The Gut Co (pictured), it quickly got my attention and a tick of approval...

I loved that @thegut.co REPAIR is a naturopathically formulated superfood powder and created by knowledgeable naturopath who has researched the gut microbiome and the relationship between gut function and our wellbeing for the past 12 years. Her supplement, REPAIR, has been thoughtfully crafted to deliver hydrolysed collagen and supply antioxidants, vitamin A, vitamin C, and Zinc, all of which are all essential in supporting natural collagen production in the body. Its definitely a wholesome, beauty food I feel safe taking.

Something else I was impressed by is it that REPAIR is FODMAP and safe for those with gut issues like IBS or GERD. That means is gentle on sensitive tummies and helpful for many ailments. The powdered supplement has a subtle fruity flavour that is tasty straight up over ice or in smoothies, and lends itself well to being used in raw food desserts, overnight oats or chia pudding.

Glow From The Inside Out

Try these deliciously simple glow pops on an empty tummy first thing in the morning during the summer months. This is when your body is most receptive to nutrients and digestion is peaked for the day ahead. You can easily meal prep this beauty food recipe by making a quick batch and store them in their mould for up to 2-3 months in the freezer. So tangy and tasty!

Pineapple + Coconut Collagen Pops

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 pineapple, organic (skin off)

  • 250ml coconut water, organic

  • 1/2 tsp maca root, powder

  • 1 tbsp REPAIR Skin Vitamins by @thgut.co

  • 1 scoop of TheGut.co REPAIR (or your choice of soluble collagen powder)

Add all the ingredients to a blender to combine. Pour mixture into ice block sleeves or moulds. Freeze for up to 3 hours until solid. Enjoy 1-2 ice blocks a day during summer.

If you tried this beauty food recipe, I'd love to hear what you thought of it. This recipe has definitely become one of my favourites in my clinic and is so densely nutritious for your skin at any age. Leave your feedback (or ask questions) in the comments below.
