Green smoothies are still one of the most popular smoothie and good reason. Generally they are jam-packed with dietary fibre, which keeps you feeling fuller for longer and naturally regulates your body's cleansing processes. Its also a super tasty and nourishing way to get a big, hearty dose of extra green veggies and meet or supersede your recommended daily intake of greens.
Avocados might not be the first thing you envision in a smoothie but are a wonderful, wholefood addition and give your smoothie substance from healthy fat. Avos are naturally high in protein and potassium, and a great source of fiber and healthy fat. After putting some avocado in a smoothie, you may never make another smoothie without it again!
The trick to using avocado in smoothies is to choose a super ripe fruit. These usually taste less starchy and blend very well into a super creamy texture when combined with other delicious ingredients such a bananas. Always work with fruit that has sat at room temperature versus straight from the fridge. This allows more flavour and better texture from most fresh produce.

Best Tasting Healthy Wholefood Green Smoothie
1 ½ cups dairy-free milk, I really like oat for this
½ ripe avocado, I use Haas for a creamier texture
1 cup mango, frozen makes for a thicker smoothie
1 banana, semi-green is higher in pre-biotics
1 cup spinach, fresh organic, English spinach is my fave
1 tablespoon chia seeds
Blend all ingredients in a high-powered blender and serve in a mason jar with ice cubes for a delicious breakfast or lunch. Alternatively, you can leave out the ice and make a more shake-like smoothie you can drink for faster absorption.
